Google Ads for dental practices

The searches that fill your schedule and the searches that pay for it are not the same searches. Most accounts optimize toward the first and hope for the second.

What a click actually costs

Top-of-page bid ranges from the Google Ads Keyword Planner, United States, pulled September 2026. Note how little separates a whitening click from an implant click — and how far apart those two treatments sit on the invoice.

Where it breaks

Every conversion counts the same. Every case does not.

A whitening enquiry and a full-arch implant enquiry both land as one conversion. Google treats them as equal, because nobody told it otherwise.

Whitening searches are far more numerous and slightly cheaper per click, so an account left to optimize on raw conversion count drifts toward them. The dashboard improves. The production number does not.

Fixing it is not a bidding problem. It means telling the platform what each case is actually worth — uploading value with the conversion, so the algorithm chases the arch and not the shade guide.

I run the full chain for an aesthetic dental practice — ads, landing pages, tracking and conversion upload. In the first days of that account, implant searches converted at a fraction of the cost of the whitening searches everyone competes for, and the whitening keywords spent the most while producing nothing.

Frequently asked questions

Why is an implant click barely more expensive than a whitening click?

Because bidding follows competition, not case value. Whitening is searched far more often and by more advertisers, which pushes its price up toward terms worth ten times more on the invoice. That gap is the opportunity.

How do I make Google chase the valuable cases?

Give the conversion a value. When a case closes, that value is uploaded back against the click that produced it. The algorithm then optimizes for revenue rather than for conversion count, which are very different targets.

Our leads come through WhatsApp. Can that be tracked?

Yes. The click ID is carried into the pre-filled message, so the conversation can be matched back to the exact search later. It is the one mechanism that survives the jump from your website into a messaging app.

Do we need a separate page per treatment?

For the high-value ones, yes. Somebody searching for implants who lands on a general practice page has to work out whether you do implants at all, and most will not bother.

Where do we start?

Run the free scan. It reads your site the way an ad click arrives and shows which link between the ad and the patient record is broken.
